IRES
fosters the professional development of those building the capacity
of their communities in remote and rural regions whilst empowering
the community themselves through access to, and the transfer of
skills in; micro-economic reform, improved economic development,
social, and environmental conditions.
We adopt a wholly integrated approach to rural and community development.
A participatory approach in planning, implementation, and evaluation
has been integral to the success and sustainability of our programs
that give people greater control over their lives.
This is achieved by:
Promoting active and representative participation toward enabling
all community members to meaningfully influence the decisions
that affect their lives.
Encouraging successful business operations to help improve their
quality of life
The establishment of income generating activities for the remote
and rural disadvantaged to promote self sustainability and reduce
the migration of community members
Engaging community members in learning about and understanding
community issues, and the economic, social, environmental, political,
psychological, and other impacts associated with alternative courses
of action.
Incorporating the diverse interests and cultures of the community
in the community development process
Working actively to enhance the leadership capacity of community
members, leaders, and groups within the community.
Being open to using a full range of action strategies to work
toward the long term sustainability and well being of the community.
